Artisan Impact

Andrea and her 2 kids have went from a place of being stuck in a cycle of abuse, to fleeing for their lives, to living for months at a refugee camp, unsure how she would continue on.  Enter a team of people (like you!) who care that exploited women and children have a hand up, and Andrea was afforded the opportunity to create, learn to sew, and grow her amazing painting skill into a business!
Now, because of your compassionate purchases of her “Fridas” and other fabulous had painted items, she and her kids have moved from the hundreds of bunks and floor pads inside a church into their first safe home!

Andrea is determined not to take hand outs. She loves to work and desires to work to earn the money she needs to pay for food, shelter, medical, and eventually school for her littles.

Each and every item you purchase directly allows Andrea to keep providing for her family, and to keep herself and her kids safe and FREE!

This marketplace, that you keep propelling forward with your good purchases, is a very real lifeline for Andrea and the many, many women like her that you partner with through Do Good Shop. Thank you. Truly. We are all so grateful for your support.

Please do not wash in a regular washer and dryer, dry clean only. Always iron on the back side of the tapestry and never on the front side with the letters.

Print will come folded for shipping; creases are normal and will fade over time when hanging. To decrease the appearance of the creases quickly, place the canvas print side down on an ironing table and place pillow case over the canvas print then you can iron over the creases. Avoid high levels of heat and keeping the iron in one place for too long. Brush over the creases with the iron and do not firmly press.

*Meet Andrea

meet.andrea.woman.artisan.painter.mexico.survivor.injustice.do.good.shop.ethical.gifts.noprofit

Meet Andrea.
Abandoned as a child.
Orphaned, without a father, mother . . . anyone to guide her.
Pregnant at 14 by a very abusive man.
One who threatened her life on multiple occasions.
At 19 she gathered the courage to leave,
her 5 year old son and infant daughter in tow.

After a long journey, she found shelter in a refugee sanctuary in Tijuana.
There she met Sarah, Ashley, Jenni, Cristina, Pastor Gustavo.
There she learned you can have food and shelter without abuse.
There she joined sewing classes and discovered newfound opportunity.
in discovering she has skills to support herself and her kids.
And there, she understood for the first time that there are people (like you!) in this world who want to empower her with a fresh start.

Andrea does not want to accept even a dollar of charity.  She has a strong desire to work and earn the money she and her kids need to pay for food, shelter, and life.  And she has already asked to be able to create orders of her Frida Kahlo paintings and other artistry!  We, like you, are more than happy to oblige.
