I am tearing up right now. You guys. Its only been 2 short years of Do Good Shop.  Just over 24 months of this fledgling nonprofit and our wide-eyed vision to change the world.  We have big dreams around here, but knew we'd have to start small.  One sale at a time, one new customer at a time, one victim of injustice helped at time.  To quote Bob in one of my all time favorite movies, "baby steps" to changing the world.   But you guys.  Oh, you wonderfully big-hearted supporters of Do Good Shop.  You are the reason I am teary today.  Apparently you are not content with going too slowly.  Because YOU have showed up.  BIG time! I’ve always loved this picture.  Hard as it is.  For me it conjures up the longing for comfort amidst fear, for a gentle love through the rough edges of real life.  The way we desire a hiding place when we are wounded, a safe place to land when we are scared.  Of resilience in the harshest of life's circumstances.    It makes me think of the beauty of young littles curling up in the safety of their mama’s snuggles.  The warmth of a lonely soul finding refuge in the comfort of a true friend, who holds their sadness with them for a spell.  It brings to the forefront the reality that often the world is cold and hardened, scary and very un-beautiful. I like this video.  It appeals to my reality tv/documentary fixation.  With it's catchy music, and silent movie feel, it's quick shots keeping the story going, and it's low-key mystery:  what is this social experiment anyway??  It drew me in. And I like this little tiny docu-drama because it's heart beats like ours here at Do Good Shop; it champions the same cause.  Freedom.  Justice.  Fair for all over fast for me.  And ahhh, when the music swells and the people start pushing that little green button, that moment when they cross the threshold into awareness, connecting the dots in a way they haven't before.  When a new person, and then another, and another joins the fight again modern day slavery . . ....

Coolest thing happened to me this afternoon.  I was going through my normal Wednesday afternoon carpool route, just like any other day.  My fifteen year old daughter emerged from the front of her high school campus with a wave of similarly skinny-jeans-and-cutesie-tee-shirt-wearing teens, piled herself and her backpack into the car, and reached for her phone and the radio (like I mentioned:  15 year old).  She looked particularly nice today, with two french braids framing her pretty brown face and sporting a gray 3/4 sleeve top with navy pinstripes and cute little front pocket and wide neckline detail.  So I told her . . .   Me:  "You look super cute today, sweetie!" my girl:  "Thanks!  I got this at Forever...
