I M P A C T

Batik is a time-consuming process. First wax is applied to the bones in the desired pattern. The bones are then dipped in dye, parts that are waxed take the dye. Once the wax is removed, a print like the one on these bracelets is produced.

Additionally, when a cow is used for food, not a single piece is wasted!  These unique bracelets are eco-friendly and sustainable, as they promote the ethical use of animals for needed sustenance, needed employment, and independence and empowerment for entire communities.

I M P A C T

Droves of people have been violently driven from their homes and property throughout Southern Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador, and Honduras.  Through the kindness of a Bishop at a church in Tijuana, hundreds of refugees and their children have bunks, cots, pieces of floor and a roof over their heads.  

To combat depression, homelessness, poverty, and further exploitation on the streets, the refugee women are learning a marketable skill:  sewing!

Do Good Shop founder Jenni has the pleasure of meeting Zellipah and her family when she was one of the keynote speakers at the annual Fair Trade Federation Conference.  Miss Zellipah shared that she went from being a young woman vulnerable to poverty and exploitation, to an artisan herself, and eventually to the founder and owner of her own fair trade company!

Zellipah, began Gitzell FairTrade and showcased the artwork at both craft fairs and festivals. Zellipah continued working with artisans from several African countries and supporting over 220 families. The increasing sales at the craft fairs and festivals eventually led her to begin selling wholesale to US shops.

Our partner artisans in North Central India beautifully handcraft sustainable wood items as a means of rising up out of injustice and poverty.  The art of traditional Indian wood craft requires mastery, passed on through generations, to create the intricate carvings and refined finish. United through the guidance of our partner team in India, small groups of women from urban slums in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh work in their homes to learn simple techniques to fashion jewelry and home décor with mango wood, up-cycled saris, and other recycled materials.  Read about our partner artisans and the impact of your purchase.
