The Bunny Mug is hand–painted by artisans in the traditional ceramic village of Bat Trang, Vietnam, a village just outside of Hanoi that is known for its traditional ceramics. The piece is formed in a mold and then hand–painted with glaze. Bat Trang village was established in the 14th century to supply ceramics to the royal household. Pottery making is one of the most ancient traditions in Vietnam.

Through sales of their products, artisans who are marginalized or disadvantaged, including ethnic minorities in remote areas and people with disabilities, develop craft skills, design products, learn business skills, and organize into production groups. These artisans create handmade ceramics in Bat Trang, a small village on the Red River famous for its ceramic pottery since the 15th century.
