The cost of metals has skyrocketed in recent years, which has had a devastating effect on the local economy and on the lives of individual artisans. Noah’s Ark has worked hard to train artisans in using alternative metals and materials, as well as to create appealing designs such as this product.

Through sales of their products, artisans from more than 70 craft groups (many are women), receive improved working conditions, stable incomes, and benefits from health campaigns. In addition, artisans receive help in finding needed export outlets for their handcrafts.

Our Upcycled Glassware is ethically hand-crafted in Egypt in partnership with a social enterprise with a mission to economically empower marginalized women from Badr City near Cairo, creating innovative products using recycled materials. A team of 20+ skilled women artisans created our beautiful hand-crafted glassware collection.

• Production Process: - Bottles and jars are collected. The collected recycled glassware then gets properly washed and prepared to be upcycled into innovative functional products. - Using heat, the artisans start the process of cutting the glass evenly. - The artisans then start to carefully grind each glass creating a smooth finish. - The last step in the process the glass is decorated and sandblasted.

Artisans in Bali use several techniques to create their variety of beautiful handcrafts, including carving, pyrography, and hand painting.

For decades, our partner organization, Serrv, has provided artisans with trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for orders. Through sales of their products, nearly 100 artisans from small family workshops receive fair wages, help marketing their products, improved working conditions, and access to national and international markets.
