Artisan Impact: Mexico, Open Road Global
MISSION:
To gather talents, resources, and partnerships to empower families to live financially secure and dignified lives.
ENTERPRISE PROGRAM:
Do Good Shop partners with ORG to offer a financial solution for groups of women looking to start community based enterprise. The communities of women Open Road Global work with are unreached by other forms of financial intervention.
Open Road Global funds the initial start up costs, provides needed training, and partners with other organizations and shops to create marketplace opportunity for the items to be sold at. The profit from the products sold goes back into a group savings account that is used on community based projects and capital for other income producing projects.
In collaboration with The University of Tijuana, Open Road Global is partnered in a multi level community development project in two local villages. Working alongside the local indigenous residents, we support their ideas and vision for their communities growth and development.
Current community projects:
- Community chicken-coup to reduce child hunger in the winter.
- Local community playground and common area development
- Group soap making business, funded by Open Road Global and implemented and run by The University Of Tijuana's Psychology department.
To learn more about this ongoing community development project the University of Tijuana has published this current update.
