We first met Belinda when she lived in Kibera Slum. She grew up in the village of Oyugis until both her parents died, and she was forced to live on the streets. At age 14 she married her husband, and they moved to Kibera in search of better opportunities. After going through many hardships with her 5 children, she left Kibera. Another organization helped provide Belinda with a new home. She is now living in a beautiful, clean space is able to work out of her home to create beautiful bags, scarves, oven mitts, and stuffed animals. Despite all the challenges, in her life, Belinda always has a positive attitude and smile. Belinda says, “It’s good being part of Grain of Rice Project because I can earn my daily bread.”
