I M P A C T

Each calming stone is artfully hand-carved from a single piece of Kisii soapstone, found in the hills of southwestern Kenya. Mining the soapstone from surface hills is a labor-intensive process, using little to no machinery. Artisans follow traditional methods passed down through the ages, working with shovels, picks, axes and machetes to carve out large soapstone chunks, which are then carved using small hand tools into beautiful artwork!

Tabaka Chigware Youths Self Help Group is one of our newest artisan partner groups who we began partnering with during the pandemic. Each purchase you make provides more safe, living wage work for this wonderful community, in high need in this time of global crisis and recovery.
